The amazing Model No. 1 Carbon Fiber comb has a patented design with a loop at one end to hold the comb while combing the hair, or to hang up the comb after use. With medium-fine teeth, it’s the perfect comb for everyday use and easily fits in your pocket or travel bag. 5.5″ (14 cm) long and 1.25″ high (3.2 cm) (slightly higher the end where loop is located)

Made of a very high-quality carbon fiber composite that’s ultra smooth, strong, and light. The comb is also naturally anti-static, unlike traditional plastic combs which can give you unpleasant “static shock.” And it’s heat- and chemical-resistant, unlike regular combs, and is far more durable. This gift set includes the Model No. 1 comb and a premium leather sheath in English Tan. The leather is from Chicago’s world famous Horween tannery, which has been making the finest leathers in the same location since 1905. The English Tan sheath is made of top-quality Horween cowhide.

Chicago Comb Co. has its genesis in Chicago (as you might suspect), and one of the founders actually lives right here in Oak Park with his lovely family.

About Chicago Comb Co.

The co-founders of Chicago Comb, John and Tedd, have been friends since the 7th grade.  Growing up in the 1980s, we were keenly aware of how the closure of factories and the decline of manufacturing was affecting Chicago and the rest of the country.  Over the years, in between other things, we would talk periodically about how great it would be to reverse that trend by bringing back great local manufacturing.

Fast forward twenty years. By then John and Tedd had established careers, John as a partner in a major Chicago law firm, and Tedd as a senior product developer for a major online company. In early 2010, the idea for Chicago Comb was born. John was showing Tedd an apartment he had bought on the North Side. The apartment looked much like it had in the early 1960s, when the building was built – it needed to be completely renovated from a style standpoint.  But what was amazing was just how well a lot it had been built.  From the tightly-fitting kitchen cabinets, to the solid wood Pella kitchen door, to the rolling blinds (whose solid-wood rods and heavy metal fittings had been made in Chicago)… it was very impressive. It was a great testament to how, a half century ago ago, companies actually made products with the idea they should endure. And they made these products, most of them, right here in the U.S.A.

From those early discussions, the idea for a beautiful, high-end men’s hair comb was born. There was nothing like it on the market. Indeed, metal combs, like a lot of other products, had disappeared from the market decades ago. Inspired by what we saw, we decided then to make the most amazing hair combs possible.

From those early beginnings, we expanded our lineup to include the only combs in the world made of pure American titanium, the only American-made carbon fiber combs, and leather sheaths (cases for combs) from premium Horween leather, made at Chicago’s famous Horween tannery since 1905.  Our products are made in America to the highest standards of quality.
